Ultimate Spinach is one of those 60’s bands that probably did too much acid for their own good.

Through their short two years together they filtered through most of the original members. The original founder even going as far to say “I got thoroughly disgusted with my ‘Frankenstein’s monster’ and quit”. The latest to join, Jeff Baxter even dropped the project after one album to start up Steely Dan.

Ultimate Spinach is one of those groups that could never put their tensions aside. Although talented, their inconsistent members, the founders ego and the general pressure to compete with the heavy hitters dominating psychedelic sound at the time caused their demise.

All this aside I still admire the work they produced and would full heartedly argue that they laid out some of the best songs of the decade. Their song Mind Flowers is one of my personal favorite “zone out and go within” songs that I’ll always come back to.

The image on the front is a further improvised landscape drawing from their second albums art, Behold & See, done by David Jenks. The text on the back is one of my favorite phrases to come out of psychedelic rock, from my favorite song of theirs, Mind Flowers.

This is a pre order as I’m still in my event break. Four color print, printed with water based inks on white hammer tees. Expect around three weeks for delivery.
